Carnival of the Magicians
Carnival of the Magicians is a feast of so-called new circus – a genre which bans animal exploitation and mixes classical circus skills with theatre, pantomime or contemporary dance. For more than a decade streets and squares of Lublin, a town in southeastern Poland, for a couple of days in late July become a huge open-air stage for jugglers, acrobats, buskers, magicians and tightrope walkers. The sky above Lublin also becomes an arena of sorts. Slackline fans from all around the world practice their skills on lines attached to historic houses and church towers, high above the crowds of pedestrians. They come to Lublin to take part in Urban Highline Festival, which accompanies the Carnival. It is one of the biggest slackline events in Europe.
